Dermaplaning

Note: Some conditions will require medical clearance and a letter from your doctor.

Pre-Care

  • Please stop using scrubs, Retin-A, retinol, take-home microdermabrasion, glycolic, or other peels, exfoliants, or tanning products 72 hours before the appointment.
  • For a minimum of 6-12 months, you must stop taking Accutane.
  • If you have cold sores or herpes outbreaks in the area to be treated, you may need to start taking an antiviral medication one day before the treatment.

Post-Care

Here’s a condensed version of each point:

  • Use a mild cleanser twice daily for at least seven days.
  • For at least seven days, apply a hydrating moisturizer twice a day.
  • Steer clear of products containing exfoliating agents for 24 hours.
  • Avoid using scrubs, polishes, or aggressive brushes for at least 1-2 weeks.
  • Take at least 72 hours off from sun exposure after dermaplaning and use sunscreen.
  • Avoid excessive sweating and heat for 72 hours.
  • Avoid chlorine for 24 hours and facial waxing for one-week post-treatment.
  • Wait 2-4 weeks before getting dermal fillers or neuromodulator injections.
  • Skin will absorb products more effectively after dermaplaning.
  • You may experience slight peeling, windburn sensation, blotchiness, and product sensitivity for a few days.
  • Contact your esthetician if you experience post-dermaplane breakouts.
